Tired of Being Tired?

I am often amused, though saddened, by people’s Facebook comments.  So often we tout some toddler’s toilet training success or bemoan another Monday.  Almost as frequently as those status updates are those that describe sleep woes in the wee hours of the morning.  Some of us have to deal with noise because we have new babies, etc.; however, many midnight noises constitute unnecessary disturbances to our sleep.  Take this, for example:

The five utility trucks outside my window until at least 2am, did not help me sleep. Ugh… guzzling coffee this morning.

Nature sounds can do wonders to tune out utility trucks and police sirens.

In my opinion, coffee can only do so much to revive a wearied body.  Going to work that tired is frustrating.  It’s hard to be productive in a sleep-deprived state.  I know- I have had 3 babies.  There’s a reason new moms continuously forget things, lose library books, barely get kids to school on time, and walk around in a haze.

A funny side note is that the other day I had a police officer stop by to see if I had witnessed or heard anything in the parking lot behind my apartment.  When I said no, he seemed surprised I hadn’t even heard the police sirens since so many were complaining they hadn’t been able to sleep.   I sheepishly admitted I use a sound machine at night for these very reasons.  I am tired of being tired- so while I am sorry I couldn’t be more help, I am not at all sorry I woke up refreshed, able to parent and to work 100%.

If sleep eludes you, try a sleep aid or sound machine so you can awaken more rested and ready to start a new day.
